The Highlanders
Patrick Troughton
Doctor Who, The Highlanders, Patrick TroughtonAudio CD - History books don't always tell the whole story. Certainly there is no record of an episode that occurred when the Scots, led by Bonnie Prince Charlie, were defeated by the English at the battle of Culloden in 1746...And the presence at the time of a blue police box on the Scottish moors seems to have escaped the notice of most eye-witnesses...The Highlanders sets the record straight. And while the incidents described may not be of great interest to historians, for Jamie McCrimmon they mark the beginning of a series of extraordinary adventures. Anneke Wills, who played the Doctor's companion Polly in the original BBC TV serial, reads Gerry Davis's complete and unabridged novelisation, first published by Target Books in 1984

The Macra Terror
DVD
(scheduled for release 18th March 2019)
Patrick Troughton

The original 1967 master recordings of 'The Macra Terror' were lost soon after the programme's original transmission. However, audio-only recordings have survived and have been used here to create a brand new fully animated reconstruction of this lost classic. With highly detailed hand-drawn animation carefully lip-synced with the original 1967 audio, this new production allows viewers to once again experience this Doctor Who chiller in full.

The Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and his companions (Jamie, Polly and Ben) arrive on a human colony in the far flung future. The colony outwardly appears to be happy and carefree. But behind it's cheerful exterior the colony has been secretly infiltrated by a race of giant parasitic crab creatures called the Macra.

The Macra brainwash the human colonists to mine toxic gas in the levels below the colony. Ruling the colony from a control centre in the heart of the main city they scuttle down to the city at night looking for food.

The Doctor's friend Ben is soon taken over by the Macra and under their malign influence, he turns against the Doctor. As more colonists are picked off in the night and as their influence spreads, the Doctor sets out to bring an end to the Macra terror.

The Macra Terror Audio CD - When the Second Doctor, Polly, Ben and Jamie visit a human colony that appears to be one big holiday camp, they think they have come across a truly happy place. Yet a shadowy presence soon makes them realise that the surface contentment is carefully controlled.

The colony's inhabitants have been brainwashed by giant, crab-like creatures - the Macra. Insidious propaganda, broadcast by the Controller, forces the humans to mine a gas that is essential for the Macra to survive - but fatal to them.

The colony must be saved - but how? The Doctor and his team are up against it, particularly when Ben falls under the influence of the Macra. Can he be rescued from their evil clutches? Can the gas pumping equipment be destroyed, getting rid of the Macra for good?

Enemy of the World is the fourth tale of Series 5 which first aired on the BBC in December 1967. It stars the second actor to play the Time Lord, Patrick Troughton, who is both the Doctor and his antagonist Ramon Salamander, alongside Frazer Hines (Jamie) and Deborah Watling (Victoria). On Earth in the near future, the Doctor and his companions are enmeshed in a deadly web of intrigue thanks to his uncanny resemblance to would-be 21st century dictator Salamander. The Doctor must expose Salamander’s schemes before he takes over the World.

Patrick Troughton, The Enemy of The WorldPatrick Troughton plays a double role, as both the second Doctor and the ruthless Salamander, in this six-part adventure of political intrigue from 1967. The TARDIS arrives in a futuristic Australia, where the genius Salamander has found a way to end starvation by harnessing the sun's energy and preventing natural disasters on a global scale. The Web of Fear

DVD Released 24th February 2014

Patrick Troughton, Frazier Hines and Deborah Watling

Unseen in the UK for 45 years – marvellously restored and remastered and brought back to life for you to own on DVD. The TARDIS narrowly avoids becoming engulfed in a cobwebby substance in space. It arrives in the London Underground railway system, the tunnels of which are being overrun by the web and by the Great Intelligence's robot Yeti. The Intelligence's goal is to drain the Doctor's mind; can the Doctor sabotage the device before the Intelligence’s plan comes to fruition?

Doctor Who, Patrick Troughton, The Web Of FearThe acclaimed 1968 Patrick Troughton era tale, The Web of Fear, featuring the first appearance of Colonel Lethbridge Stewart, later to become the Brigadier. A sequel to The Abominable Snowman, it features the return of the Yeti, now stalking the confined darkness of the London Underground (an excellent setting). Aided by youthful companions Jamie (Frazier Hines), Victoria (Deborah Watling) and the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce (UNIT), the Doctor (Troughton, marvellously eccentric) must prevent an invasion by the fearsome Yeti. It is both refreshing and intriguing to revisit this milestone of classic Science Fiction, replete with the show's trademark touches and nail-biting cliff-hangers ("As they retreat, a massive web of glowing fungus spills into the room!!"). Given the slim resources the show had, it's a triumph of the show's style that Dr. Who managed to convey such a striking atmosphere of impending doom and excitement.
